Sonoma County Paratransit Service

The city of Petaluma, with a population of 61,873, is located in southern Sonoma County approximately 17 miles south of the city of Santa Rosa.

Intercity Service

Petaluma is served by three intercity routes operated by Sonoma County Transit. Route 40 operates on weekdays between the Petaluma Transit Mall (Petaluma SMART station) and the Sonoma Plaza.  Route 40 provides direct connections with the Route 30 (at the Sonoma Plaza) for travel to Sonoma Valley communities.  Route 40 operates on weekdays.

Routes 44 & 48 provide service between Petaluma, Rohnert Park, Cotati and Santa Rosa. Route 44 connects Petaluma with Sonoma State University. Route 48 provides a connection to downtown Cotati.  Both routes serve downtown Rohnert Park (Commerce Blvd. & Rohnert Park Expressway), the Graton Resort, South Santa Rosa Avenue, downtown Santa Rosa, SRJC, the County Center and Coddingtown.

Fares on routes 40, 44 & 48 are zone-based and vary between $1.50 & $3.00 for adults and $0.75 to $1.50 for seniors. Through June 2025, all Youth ride free.

ADA Paratransit Service

Sonoma County Paratransit provides paratransit services, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, during the same hours and days as Sonoma County Transit’s fixed-route service.
