Fare Zones

Sonoma County Transit's service area is divided into fare zones. The amount of your fare will depend upon the number of zones through which you travel. For example, from Santa Rosa to Glen Ellen on Route 30 would be a 3-zone trip. It would be a 4-zone trip on Route 60 from Geyserville to Santa Rosa.

Use the Zone Chart to determine the length of your trip. If you have questions regarding fare zones or need further assistance, please call our Information Operators.

*On most other transit systems, Senior Citizens are defined as 65 years of age or older. The Regional Transit Discount Card will not be issued to non-disabled persons under the age of 65.

The Regional Transit Connection Discount Card (RTCDC) is a photo ID available to qualified persons with disabilities and senior citizens, 65 years of age or older. The card makes it easier to demonstrate your eligibility for a reduced fare on all fixed-route transit bus, rail, and ferry systems throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

For more detailed information regarding the RTCDC program or to request an application, please contact Sonoma County Transit or your local transit agency. Please note that, because this is a photo ID, you must appear in person with your completed application to have your picture taken. (A list of locations where applications are accepted in Sonoma County will be sent with your application.) Applications cannot be accepted by mail.

Sonoma County Transit offers a choice of bus passes designed to meet our passengers’ varied traveling needs.  For the more frequent passenger — especially anyone who regularly commutes to and from work or school, we offer three types of unlimited-ride passes.  Depending on the frequency and/or the distance to be traveled, these unlimited-ride passes can mean a substantial savings (compared to paying the cash fare).  [Please note that all unlimited-ride passes are non-transferable; they are to be used only by the person for whom they are purchased.]

The MonthlyPass is valid for the calendar month for which it is purchased and is good for unlimited-rides on any Sonoma County Transit bus. This pass may be purchased up to two months ahead of time.

The 31-DayPass, which may be purchased any day of the month, is also good for unlimited-rides on any Sonoma County Transit.  This pass is valid from the date purchased through the expiration date stamped on the pass.

Passengers who find their travel requires the use of two or more transit systems operating within Sonoma County might want to consider the SuperPass.  This is also an unlimited-ride pass good for the calendar month on each transit system for which a “sticker” is purchased.

The Countywide FastPass has the same value as paying the cash fare—it simply eliminates the need for having the exact change.  Many parents find this especially convenient for their children riding to and from school.  Good on any Sonoma County Transit bus for the number of zones purchased, this 20-ride pass gets punched each time the passenger takes the bus and only expires when the 20 rides have been used.  Since the price per ride is the same as the cash fare, use is not restricted to any one person provided that each passenger qualifies for the fare category printed on the pass.
