New Electric Buses Deployed on Rohnert Park & Cotati Local Routes 10, 12 & 14

February 9, 2021

Two new electric buses have recently been added to the Sonoma County Transit fleet.  The new 30′ coaches are presently deployed on Rohnert Park & Cotati local routes 10, 12 & 14. Through June 30th, routes 10, 12 & 14 are included in Sonoma County Transit’s Fare-Free program, providing free rides for all passengers.

Three additional 30′ electric coaches are expected to arrive in summer 2022. The 2022 buses will be equipped with inductive charging capabilities that allow for enroute charging and extended operating range, permitting their use on local routes in Windsor, Healdsburg and Cloverdale.

Sonoma County Transit’s use of low-emission buses dates back to 1995 when its first natural gas powered fleet was placed into service. Today, with the exception of its three electric buses, all 30′ & 40′ coaches are powered by natural gas.  The transition to a zero-emission, all-electric fleet will occur over the next fifteen to twenty years.
