Your fare will depend on the number of zones through which you travel, and which category of rider you are. A trip from Santa Rosa to Petaluma on Route 44 or Route 48 is a 2 zone trip. Fares on routes described as “local” service require a local (1-zone) fare. Transfers are valid for three hours. See below for additional information on transfer fares.

Transfers

Once you’ve paid to board a Sonoma County Transit bus, you can transfer to any other Sonoma County Transit bus for free for up to three hours on a one-way trip. When you board the first bus, pay its full fare, state your destination and ask the driver for a transfer. If you have a valid transfer from a one-zone trip, you can upgrade it to a multi-zone transfer. Transfers can only be used by their original recipient and cannot be passed to another passenger for use as fare payment.
