Fares

 

Local routes 24, 28, 32, 66, 67 & 68 are Fare-Free. Fares are paid by local entities participating in Sonoma County Transit’s local Fare-Free pilot program.   Cotati & Rohnert Park local routes 10, 12 & 14 are included in the Fare-Free pilot program through June 30, 2024.

Through June 2025, all Youth (18 & under) passengers ride fare-free under a pilot-program subsidized by the Sonoma County Climate Resilience Program.

Fare payment options include: cash, the MonthlyPass, the 31-DayPass and the Regional Clipper Card  (available for use on all Bay Area public transit systems.)  For passengers wishing to pay their fare using their smart phone, please download the Hopthru app.

Your fare will depend on the number of zones through which you travel, and which category of rider you are. A trip from Santa Rosa to Petaluma on Route 44 or Route 48 is a 2 zone trip. Fares on routes described as “local” service require a local (1-zone) fare. Tranfers are valid for three hours. See below for additional information on transfer fares.

Transfers

Once you’ve paid to board a Sonoma County Transit bus, you can transfer to any other Sonoma County Transit bus for free for up to three hours on a one-way trip. When you board the first bus, pay its full fare, state your destination and ask the driver for a transfer. If you have a valid transfer from a one-zone trip, you can upgrade it to a multi-zone transfer.  Transfers can only be used by their original recipient and cannot be passed to another passenger for use as fare payment.

First upgrade from one zone to two zones:

For additional zones :

Passengers transferring from Santa Rosa CityBus or Petaluma Transit receive a discount equivalent to Sonoma County Transit’s “base” or “1st zone” fare. Transfers are good for up 180 minutes from issuance.
