Help Shape Future Gold Runner Service
The San Joaquin Joint Powers Authority (SJJPA) is inviting community members, transit riders, and stakeholders to participate in the Gold Runner (Operated by Amtrak) Thruway Bus Study and help shape the future of regional bus service.
The study is focused on developing specific, feasible, and near-term recommendations to improve Gold Runner Thruway Bus routes and better serve existing and potential riders throughout the region.

SJJPA is seeking public feedback on current service and potential improvements. Community members are encouraged to share the survey with friends, family, colleagues, and organizations that currently use, or may use, Gold Runner services in the future if improvements are made.

Study Timeline
SJJPA staff will present an update to the Authority Board at its July 17, 2026, Board Meeting, including:
- Existing Gold Runner service characteristics
- Proposed goals and objectives for the service
- Feedback received during the initial outreach phase
Additional public and agency outreach will occur in early August 2026 to gather feedback on the Draft Gold Runner Thruway Bus Study Report.
Staff anticipate presenting the final study report and implementation strategies for consideration and approval at the September 18, 2026, Authority Board Meeting.
Initial Feedback Requested by June 21
Public comments will be accepted throughout the study process until final approval of the report in September. However, feedback received by June 21, 2026, will be summarized and presented to the Authority Board during its July meeting.
Community participation is essential to ensuring Gold Runner Thruway Bus service continues to meet the needs of current and future riders. We encourage everyone to review the study materials and share their input.
